In continuation of my telegram of the

28th instant, I have the honour to transmit to you the

enclosed report of the Honourable the Acting Director

of Public Works on the question of the construction of

the ground floor of the New Law Courts.

2.

In the plans furnished by the Consulting

Architects the entire ground floor is shown to be

supported on iron girders and joists, entailing a large

expenditure for no useful purpose. I accordingly recom-

mend Mr. W. Chatham's proposal for your favourable con-

sideration.
